Announcements: New Owners
Share
Dear Friends and Readers,
We are excited to announce a change of ownership at The Bookstore in Pine City. After three years of dedication to fostering a love of books and serving as a hub for our wonderful community, Dana is passing the torch to new hands.
As the new owners, we are honored to continue the legacy of The Bookstore. Our mission will remain the same: to foster a love of reading by providing a thoughtfully curated selection of books for all, hosting engaging events, and being a welcoming space where book lovers can connect. We will continue to be a donation center for those that wish to donate their used books. We will handle all donations will care and provide low cost used books to the community, share the generosity with the library and little libraries, as well as non-profit organizations and anywhere we can spread a love of reading in the community for young and old.
We are committed to offering the same exceptional service, personalized recommendations, and community support you’ve come to expect. Whether you’re browsing in-store, attending an event, or shopping online, our goal is to ensure The Bookstore remains your go-to destination for all things books.
After careful consideration we have decided to evaluate the hours of operations. For winter hours we will be aligning to stores close by and will be open Monday through Friday 10 am to 6 pm. We will also be open on Saturdays and closed on Sundays going forward. As we hire staff and evaluate the flow of traffic, we will evaluate our hours as the school year ends. We look forward to meeting you and hearing all about your recommendations for reads.
Meet the new owners:
Becky, Mark, and Andrew Gallik have lived in Pine City for 20 years. They believe in supporting local initiatives and are excited to continue investing in the Pine City community.
Andrew, along with Gallik’s older son Matt, graduated from PCHS. Andrew is a graduate of Pine Community College and is currently in his final semester at BSU, working towards a BA in business with a focus on retail management. Andrew’s favorite books are memoirs, autobiographies, and biographies.
Mark has worked locally to support the agricultural community for the last 20 years and is originally from this area. He has also been a supporter of youth hockey and can still be seen putting on his skates to referee a game. Mark always has a travel book by his side, plotting his next adventure.
Becky has an extensive background in business management and operations, having worked in healthcare technology for over 18 years. She has worked locally in Pine, Kanabec, and Chisago County, as well as at the national level. She was active for many years in the church when her kids were younger, with roles including advisory board chair for the Catholic school, religious education teacher, and Sunday’s readings lector. She has also served on an advisory board for a program at Pine Tech College. Becky is an avid reader of various book genres, including fiction, religion, science, and self-help.
